Before the Shed was added with v1.5.0.0, the Barns had 4/6/8 workplaces for Barnworkers and/or Farmers! Or in other words: The Shed is nothing else than a smaller version of the old Tier 1-Barn! The barn does not give a buff to crops any longer and you will need to either replace the barns with sheds or add a shed close to your barn to get the same result you had before.
