I have been practicing speedrunning a lot recently, and the rapier is always the weapon of choice. This makes sense for a lot of reasons; It has one of the fastest attack speeds in the game. Its damage per stamina consumption is amazing. 2h r1 spam does an incredible amount of poise damage, enough to stagger nearly any non boss in the game.

Its mostly for if you make a poison ricard's rapier so you can apply it really fast, then swap off. As for the damage, make use of that counter. Hit enemies while they are running towards you, Rapiers (And Ricards by extension) are some of the hardest hitting weapons in the game, and power stancing them easily outdoes everything that isn't a ... If you have 34 str, I would just go for the Ice Rapier or Regular rapier and bump STR to 40. God knows there are plenty of other games out there. As for best PvE weapons, you won't have access yet to what I'd consider the two best choices, Drakeblood Greatsword and Red Iron Twinblades. Given where you are, your choices will depend on playstyle. If you're comfortable with Ultras, the Greatsword can be great.
